MLB News: Yankees’ Oswaldo Cabrera is suffering serious injury in Win

New York Yankees-Infielder Oswaldo Cabrera was removed from the field of T-Mobile Park in Seattle on Monday night as he suffered a serious ankle injury while driving the bases.

Yankees had the bases loaded when Aaron Judge’s victim fly sent Cabrera from the third base to the home plate. When Cabrera went to slip around the Seattle Mariners Catcher Cal Raleigh, he got up limp. Cabrera angry with pain in dirt and seemed to be really hurt.

Medical staff came out to attend Cabrera and an ambulance was called out on the field. Cabrera’s left ankle was placed in a stag before being put in the ambulance of a stretcher, said Yankee’s manager Aaron Boone.

“I think everyone understands that it was a pretty serious situation,” Boone said after Yankees ’11 -5 victory. “So just pray for our guy (Cabrera) tonight and hope for the best. Trust that he’s in good hands when he goes through the night here.”

Judge said after the game that Cabrera called him over before leaving the field and asked if he scored.

“Then just show you what type of guy he is,” Judge said. “Something similar happens and the one thing in his mind for all pain and everything is, ‘I scored?'”

Judge was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. He beats .414.

“He cares everyone in this room. He loves to be a Yankee,” said Judge of Cabrera. “He wears his jersey with pride. This is a tough one, especially a guy who has painted all his life and eventually had an opportunity to be our everyday guy and excellent.”

Cabrera has performed in 34 games for Yankees this season. He beats .243 with 11 RBI.
