MLB -star address ‘greedy’ claims from last year’s contract negotiations

In December, Chicago White Sox Pitcher Garrett Crochet traded for Boston Red Sox. Shortly after participating in Red Sox, Crochet made it clear that he was looking for a long -term contract extension from his new team.

The request raised some eyebrows, given that White Sox did not succeed in their reported attempts to move crochet before last July’s trading deadline. Crocheting was also on a lap -limitation last season, but he managed to beat 146 laps in 2024.

Crochet is expected to take the Haugen to Red Sox on opening day next month. As April approaches, the 25-year-old shares some details of what led to him being described as a “greedy” player.

The crochet explained that his push for an extension centered around him moving from a reliever to a full -time starter.

“I didn’t feel in no way that I required it because I wanted to have money or security in itself. It was more in the fact that I established myself as a starter and kind of getting away from the idea that team considered me a potentially advanced reliever.”

Crochet came out of the bullpen 54 times in 2021 when he was with White Sox. He was deployed as a reliever a total of 18 times in 2020, 2022 and 2023 due to injuries.

Crochet moved from Bullpen to the starting rotation last season, which started 32 starts and ended the year with a 3.58 era. Crochet recognized the important role his health played last season.
