Phillies needed some bullpen help, and Dave Dombrowski unloaded sought -after prospects to make sure the team had one of the best closers in the game on their side for the rest of the year.
Twins closer fuel
Duran with a triple digit fastball and one of the best splitters in the whole baseball, has settled to a 2.47 ERA during his career, which includes 74 rescues over 83 chances in the last four seasons overall.

Duran’s production is worthy of some major trading pieces, but it is the fact that he is under team control until the 2028 season. So this deal is helping now and for the next two Phillies campaigns.
Philadelphia has searched for that trip back to the World Series, which last came in 2022 when they lost to Houston Astros in six matches.
They came to NLCS in 2023, but lost Game 7 to Arizona Diamondbacks. Then by 2024, Phillies couldn’t handle the New York Mets and lost in four matches in the Division Division series.
