MLB Viral Moment: Marlins’ Matt Mervis gets hit with ball in unfortunate place

Miami Marlin’s first Baseman Matt Mervis wrongly read a throw from Shortstop Xavier Edwards during the top of the fifth round in the team’s 6-1 loss to athletics on Friday and paid a lot for it.

Athletics Second Baseman Luis Urias hit an earth ball to Edwards, who then fired the ball shortly after Mervis and in dirt.

Mervis tried to pick the ball out of the short jump, but missed the ball and were hit in a very sensitive area.

Athletics (18-15) will play Marlin’s (12-19) again on Saturday at. 16:10 one in the second game in their three-game series.
