Islamabad:
The National Assembly’s Standing Committee for Interior demanded an immediate briefing from Sindh’s Police Chief on the murder of Mustafa Amir when shocking revelations appeared on the case’s relations with drug trafficking, cryptocurrency and Dark Web.
The chairman of the panel insisted Raja Khurram Nawaz that a briefing on the case should be prioritized.
However, the extra secretary interior stated the panel that the Inspector General (IG) Sindh had not appeared due to a delay in receiving the committee’s message.
He requested that the briefing be scheduled for the next meeting. However, MNA Abdul Qadir Patel strongly criticized IG’s absence and said, “This is an extremely serious matter – at least IG SINDH should have participated.”
Committee member Agha Rafiullah also revealed that a DSP had been shot twice in connection with the case while also raising concerns about the investigation. “The defendant has a relative on the investigative team.” He insisted that a case of this sensitivity should have already undergone serious and impartial investigations.
Nabeel Gabol added that federal agencies, including anf and the FIA, should have already taken action.
Abdul Qadir Patel revealed that authorities had recovered a call center and 62 laptops along with evidence connected to cryptocurrency. He added that fake bank accounts had been created and claimed that drugs were transported from Islamabad to Karachi using Courier Services.
The case he added, also involved transactions on the dark web and possible illegal weapons purchases.
If this had happened in another country, all agencies would have been mobilized now, “Patel said, criticizing the passivity of the FIA and other federal authorities.
Meanwhile, additional Director -General of the FIA Cybercrime Wing Waqaruddin Syed Syed the panel that Sindh police were currently handling the case and the FIA would investigate when it was referred to them.
Patel threw the procedure and asked, “Are you waiting for the case to come to you? It’s your job to start investigations and not wait for them to land right outside the door”.
Then the NA panel called Sindh to perform in the next session for a detailed orientation about the Mustafa Amir case.
In addition, the Ministry of the Interior has been instructed to initiate a study through the FIA and anf to reveal the full extent of the case and its potential relations with organized crime.
Earlier, the session began with committee members who objected to the absence of the Minister of the Interior and the secretary’s interior.
At least that the secretary’s interior expressed his dissatisfaction, said, “At least the secretary’s interiors should have been present”.
