Move over Dogecoin. The new Memecoin that creates waves in Tech Twitter’s inner sanctum is not just about fun; It’s about thinking.
Mog Coin, a popular token offered to Ethereum and Base, tries to bring in a cultural shift as “mog/ACC” – a mashup of mogging (a slang to be better, stronger, faster) and accelerationism (speeding up technological change for all costs).
Techno-optimists quickly put on Pit Vipers, a flashy sunglasses brand, like their X account leading to Mindshare of the MOG token outside Crypto Circles.
Influent X accounts from Y Combinator -Garry Tan to owner Elon Musk are all with the MOG/ACC train and change their screens to a wearing a pit viper. MOG prices have risen more than 11% in the last week and extends 30-day gains to over 130%.
Solana -o -Ecosystem companies such as Raydium and Jupiter have come along, changing their online screens to a cat or their mascot wearing the PIT -Wrip and saying “MOG/ACC.”
A community member has even built a MOG/ACC bot that automatically converts any display to the aesthetic MOG/ACC believer aspires, with the Viral hours account after launching for the small hours on Wednesday.
But what is MOG/ACC anyway? Believers have a very specific view of it.
“MOG accelerationism is the expansion of MOG Memetics to the area of technological progress,” said @viroteknik, a Memecoin -tanker, to Coindesk in a telegram message. “It’s about winning, competing and doing well in everything.”
“Accelerationism is a philosophy of technological progress that accelerates its pace and ensures that it is made at any cost. MOG/ACC is hybrid for the two; and it is a perfect synthesis – the two ideas complement each other well and the memory helps to spread philosophy,” he added.
Accelerationism, or “ACC” in online slang, is the idea that humans need to speed up technological advances regardless of the cost. Whether AI, Crypto, Biotech or Automation, the core is to go faster, break things and move the future forward.
It has given birth to effective accelerationism (E/ACC), a recent spin trying to make accelerationism practical, not just a meme. Subscribers of the mindset include early cryptoinvestor Balaji Srinivasan.
In 2023, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Butterin shared its own version of E/ACC as D/ACC or defensive accelerationism, which called for building technology to move on, but avoids active paths filled with greed or a net negative.
As such, MOG/ACC is not just about piggybacking off existing accelerationist trends. It is morphic to its own, clearly internet-native philosophy.
Where e/acc intellectualizes the future and d/acc moralizes it, mog/acc memes it to existence. Believers remove the think pieces in favor of flashy avatars and a shared language to win.
Whether Mog becomes more than a coin or mood has not yet been seen. But so far it is a fully blown -up identity game.
