Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and the National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq met in Islamabad on Sunday to discuss the Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) party’s “attitude” during the recent government building interviews. The two leaders considered questions of mutual interest and the overall situation in the country, according to Radio Pakistan.
Naqvi acclaimed speeches Sadiq’s efforts to promote dialogue between the Treasury and Opposition benches. Both officials expressed satisfaction with the country’s improved economic conditions. The couple also discussed the government’s initiatives to solve public issues.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had previously accused PTI of the mistake of the negotiations with reference to the collapse in three meetings. However, he reiterated that the reigning party was still open to continued conversations.
Meanwhile, PTI chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan Prime Minister’s offer of further negotiations and claimed the government was responsible for the collapse of conversations.
“We had only made two demands: the release of political prisoners and the formation of legal commissions for events 9 and 26 November,” said Gohar. “The government closes the door for conversations by not accepting these requirements.”
The connection between the government and the PTI continues as both sides maintain contrasting views on the path forward.
