Mohsin Naqvi meets the Iranian President, lifting a stronger cooperation

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi held conversations with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in Tehran, who promised stronger bilateral cooperation and expressed solidarity over Iran’s recent conflict.

Naqvi congratulated President Pezeshkian with Iran’s “great victory” in the war and praised the leadership of supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and called it a source of pride for the Muslim world.

The minister said Pakistan had strongly condemned the attack on Iran and was the first to adopt a parliamentary decision that supports Iran’s right to self -defense. He also conveyed greetings from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and confirmed Pakistan’s obligation to regional stability.

President Pezeshkian expressed appreciation of Pakistan’s support during the conflict and described the relationship between the two countries as “deep and historically.” He warned that the Zionist regime was trying to divide Muslim countries and called for unity among Islamic nations.

Pezeshkian emphasized the importance of diplomacy and constructive dialogue and said that both countries had ample opportunity to expand cooperation in different sectors.

“The support expanded by Pakistan during the war will not be forgotten,” he said, adding that unity among Muslim nations was important to counteract foreign interference.

The meeting also attended Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni, the president’s special assistant and ambassadors from both countries.

Previously, the minister also attended a trilateral meeting with domestic ministers from Pakistan, Iran and Iraq who hosted Tehran.

The three countries agreed to form a joint working group to facilitate pilgrimage trips in which Naqvi announced that from 1 January 2026 Zair will only be allowed to visit Iraq through officially registered group organizers.
