Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Thursday rejected speculation on social media that suggested that President Asif Ali Zardari was exposed to calling them baseless.
In a statement sent to his official X (formerly Twitter) account, the Naqvi defended the unit between the country’s political and military leadership.
He denied any discussions or intentions of the president’s resignation or a change in leadership.
He described the rumors as “malicious campaign” aimed at discrediting President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff (Coas) Field Marshal General Asim Munir, and claims that there is no truth to claims that suggest political rift or changes in leadership.

Referring to speculation that suggests that President Zardari has been asked to resign, or that the COAs are seeking presidency, said the Interior Minister ‘There has been no discussion, nor is there any such idea’.
He emphasized that the president maintains a “strong and respectful” relationship with the military’s top leadership and quoted President Zardari to say, “I know who is spreading these untruths, why they are doing it and who is beneficial to this propaganda”.
“The only focus of the Coa is the strength and stability of Pakistan, nothing else,” the Minister of the Interior repeated.

Naqvi connected them behind the alleged campaign with hostile foreign agencies and promised that the government would take “no matter what action needed to make Pakistan strong again, Inshallah.”
Naqvi gave similar statements in SUKKUR last week and asked journalists not to believe in rumors on social media. “Some people are disturbed by our device.”
He emphasized that the adaptation between Pakistan’s political leadership, the military and the government is the reason for the growing spread of disinformation. “For the first time, politicians, the government and the military business are on the same side, and it bothers certain individuals.”
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) also issued a statement to rest on speculation about the possible removal of President Zardari.
