Monsoon Rains to begin over Pakistan from June 25

Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted the entry of monsoon rains across the country starting from June 25, with spell forms with heavy rain that is likely to continue until July 1st. However, a warning has also been issued for possible urban area in low -lying areas.

According to PMD, humid winds enter the upper and central parts of the country and their intensity is expected to rise in the coming days.

From June 24 to July 2, areas of Azad Kashmir including Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber and Mirpur are expected to receive rain and thunderstorms with chances of heavy downsets in isolated places.

In Gilgit-Baltistan, districts such as Diamer, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghande and Shigar, may experience rainfall between 26 and 29 June.

From June 25 to July 1, heavy rain is expected to be thunderstorms in the twin towns of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, SaRowal, Sahorhwal, Sheikhupura, Sialkot Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Nankana SaHib, Chiniot, Faisalabad, Okara, Kasur, Khushab, Sargodha, Bhakkar and Mianwali.

In southern Punjab, areas including Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, DG Khan, Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Muzaffarh, Rajanpur, Rahim Yar Khan and Layyah can see rain between June 26 and 28.

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwas distrikter inklusive Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Bajaur, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Kohat, Bannu, Di Khan, Mohmand, Khyber, Waziristan, Orakzai, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, PaShawar, Mardan, Hardan, Orakzai, Mansehra Kurram probably also receives rain from June 25 to July 1st.

In Balochistan, rain is expected from 25 to 28 June in Shirani, Musakhel, Loralai, Sibi, Barkhan, Naseerabad, Qila Saifullah, Lasbela, Khuzdar, Awaran, Jafarabad, Dera Bugti and Kohlu.

Sindh can receive rainfall between June 25 and 28 in Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Khairpur, Kashmore, Hyderabad, Tharparkar, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, Jamshoro, Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Thatta, Badin and Karachi.

PMD has warned of potential flash flooding in Hill Torrents of DG Khan, Northeast Punjab and Kashmir, especially from June 26 to July 1.

The city’s flood is also expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Nowshera, Peshawar and possibly in Hyderabad and Karachi between June 26 and 28.

There is also a risk of landslide in hilly areas in KP, Murree, Galiyat, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Authorities have been warned of potential damage to poorly built homes, power bars, vehicles, advertising boards and solar panels due to strong wind and heavy rain.
