For the first time since the beginning of the 2025 MLB season, Los Angeles Dodgers is no longer in first place in NL West.
This place belongs to the rolling San Diego Padres, who took the place with a commanding 11-1 victory over San Francisco Giants, while Dodgers fell again to Los Angeles Angels Wemlemt Night, 6-5.
Dodgers are still in solid playoff position and owns the top wild-card site with a 68-53 record, while Padres are 69-52. But eight-time All-Star Mookie Betts says his team, which has lost six of 10, must show a certain urgent character.

“You definitely start to feel it more after the break, especially when you see so many trades and so many teams adding, especially the teams you will have to play against,” Betts told Pakinomist Digital while discussing his partnership with Corona and its new “Playa Sounds” Soundtrack.
“Obviously you will play all year round with a small sense of urgent character. It’s hard to do so, but now that sense of urgency is increasing, especially now that we are tied. [The Padres are] Really good and playing really good ball. “

Padres has ripped wins in eight of 10 games on their way to overtake NL West. And like Betts mentioned, they were one of the teams that went for it at the MLB trade deadline. General Manager AJ Preller added players like Closer Mason Miller, Ramón Laurano and Ryan O’Hearn. He also threw the catch position and brought Freddy Fermín in from Kansas City Royals.
Since the All-Star break is Padres 17-8, and Dodgers are 10-13.

Betts understands how great an opportunity it is for his team, but the feeling of urgent speed comes with some caution at his end.
“This feeling of urgency is huge, but you won’t do too much either,” he explained. “You don’t want to have that sense of urgency to become pressure and intense. You will still play and enjoy. It’s hard it’s the balance.
“But the guys who play with the feeling of urgent character with joy, I think, are the ones who rise to the occasion.”
Bettt, who has recently been warm on the record during a storming 2025 campaign, knows what it takes to not just reach it to the autumn period, but rises to the opportunity to win a World Series. He has three rings to show for it.
Entering flow mode with Corona
When Betts works its way, it is important to have a calm, yet intense mindset, especially when the postal season comes.

Betts helped Corona, the official “Cerveza” of MLB, creating “Playa Sounds”, choosing certain moments from the post season to pair with soothing beach sounds that help him get into the “flow mode.”
“I was able to choose a few moments from big swings, big hits, big catches in the postal season, and then you match them with the beach sounds. These waves crashing, just put you right in the middle where you’re ready for something intense, but you’re also relaxed to do what it is,” Betts explained.
“Because you don’t want to be too intense when you go into these intense moments. You won’t fight fire with fire. So I really feel like these sounds put you right in between.
“It has really helped and puts me in a good mindset.”
