Moonpay grabs sought after Bitlicense -Authorization in New York

Moonpay, a Cryptocurrency On Ramp and Payment Company with over 20 million users, has been given a sought-after Bitlicense and Money Sender License from the New York State Department of Financial Services (Nydfs).

Bitlicense endorsement ends Moonpay’s US regulatory coverage and complements transmission licenses in 46 other US jurisdictions as well as registrations in the UK, Australia, Canada, Italy, Ireland and Jersey, the company said in a press release on Wednesday.

Donald Trump’s crypto-friendly administration has done a solid foundation in the United States, the more desirable for businesses as his administration is working on federal rules. Nydf’s Bitlicense approval is widely recognized as a gold standard in the crypto industry.

The Nydfs approval comes on the heels of Moonpay, which opens a new headquarters in New York City, as the company said is now its largest US office.

“As an American-basic company with a headquarters in New York City, we are extremely proud of this milestone and look forward to our continued work with regulators nationwide to make crypto accessible to everyone,” Moonpay co-founder and CEO Ivan Soto-Wright said in a statement.
