We have all heard the warnings about the damage that Social Engineering can do – but a particular demographic still stands out as the most susceptible to attack – and that may not be the one you think.
New research from Yubico claims that Gen Z workers (those born between 1997 and 2012) are the ones that let down the site, with an alarming 62% reporting that has engaged in a social engineering attack (opens an adhesive, clicking on a link, etc.) in the past year.
Social engineering attacks not only become more frequent, but also more powerful -it has been widely reported how AI -driven phishing attacks are increasing and becomes smarter and claims more victims than ever with convincing depths and voice clones.
Make self -confidence
In fact, a large majority (70%) of respondents said they believe that phishing trials have become more successful thanks to the use of AI, and a staggering 78% have seen these become more sophisticated.
When he was presented with a phishing -e email, the majority (54%) thought it was authentically written by a human being or was uncertain where it was emphasized how convincing these attacks have become -even though respondents of all ages scored similarly in this task.
Courtedly, a large proportion of workers reported that they have never received cyber security training (40%), and the degree of implementation of the multi factor approval (MFA) is just under half (48%) -which means a large proportion of organizations are left at a very basic level.
Only 26% of respondents considered passwords the most secure approval method, but they are still the most common – with 56% using them for work accounts and 60% use them for their personal accounts.
