A young man who was assaulted in Karachi’s defense area has told a court in Metropolis City that he does not want to pursue the case and has forgiven the defendant.
The incident, which received public attention after the recordings of the youth, who were physically attacked, began to circulate far on social media had caused the authorities to intervene.
The victim, identified as Dhanraj, appeared to a judge in South Karachi on Thursday and made a short statement.
“I did not realize that I had been called by court,” Dhanraj told the magistrate. “My lawyer informed me today, so I came.”

The magistrate asked if Dhanraj was under pressure or coercion regarding the case.
“No, I’m not under any kind of pressure,” he replied. “I don’t want to file any case. I have forgiven the defendant.”
Dhanraj also declared that he had no objection to any decision that the court had to make in the case.
The most important accused Salman Farooqi, CEO of a local product house, was caught on camera clapping and handling the cyclist after a minor collision on May 31.
Farooqi’s armed guard and driver allegedly detained the victim by gun and forced him to a vehicle where he was beaten.
The motorcyclist had picked up his sister, Kalpana, who reportedly worked in a nearby beauty along. The assault took place as they were preparing to leave together.
The video of the assault, which also showed that the victim’s sister was pushed away when she asked for an apology, triggered indignation on social media.

On Monday, Farooqi was the disgraceful suspect arrested after attacks on his residence and office. The guard and the driver had also been taken into custody and police provided the vehicle involved in the assault.
A FIR was registered at Gizri Police Station despite the victim not filing a formal complaint. The report was submitted based on testimony of eyewitness Muhammad Saleem.
