Next year is just around the corner, and with it comes CES – the world’s biggest annual tech trade show – where many big brands will unveil what they think will be the next big thing. Sometimes they can’t help but spoil their own messages. For example, Motorola’s extensive CES invite suggests it will launch a Motorola Fold phone.
Motorola already makes foldables – the flip-style Motorola Razr series – but it has yet to give us a book-like foldable. That looks set to change, given two key clues from the invite (via Android Central ).
The first is a note that says, “We are getting ready to unfold new perspectives.” This suggests that some sort of new foldable style is on the way from Motorola.
A book-like foldable would make a lot of sense as it’s the other mainstream foldable phone design we’ve seen from Motorola’s rivals, but to add to the speculation, a lamp is included in the invite that opens up like a book, blowing out glowing pages to hammer home the design.
As with all teasers, we should take the speculation with a grain of salt – it’s very easy to misunderstand Motorola’s hints – but a new foldable phone to rival the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 makes too much sense for the tech brand not to get a little excited that it’s a very real possibility.
Especially since Motorola specializes in more budget-friendly foldables compared to its competitors, although it also makes some premium foldables.
Fold phones have always been quite expensive – the Z Fold 7 costs $1,999.99 / £1,799 / AU$2,899 – but Motorola could offer a solid option at a lower price. We’re still expecting a Motorola Fold to cost over $1,000 / £1,000 / AU$2,000, but hopefully it’ll land somewhere between that and the Z Fold 7 – perfect for people who don’t want to break their bank account, but want the tablet size that folds up in their pocket.
I love foldables like the Z Fold 7, but I admit they are very expensive.
We’ll be attending CES to cover all the latest news on the ground as it happens, so be sure to check back in early January to keep up with the big tech news as we kick off 2026.
