Mordbot Season 2 is officially on the way, which is good news (and no surprise) given season 1’s success.
The first ten episodes, based on the novels of Martha Wells, saw Murderbot (Alexander Skarsgård) unlock his full potential and then pronounce on a way to discover who he really is. Oh while murdering someone or something trying to kill the team he has assigned to protect.
It’s a great hit for Apple TV+, scoring 96% from critics at Rotten Tomatoes at the time of writing and fighting for a place in the best Apple TV+ exhibitions. And considering how Season 1 left matters, there is much more to explore – and many more novels from Wells to seek inspiration.
Here’s all we know so far Mordbot Season 2 from prediction of release date, expected role crew, plot rumors and more.
Potential spoilers follow for Mordbot Season 1.

“We can’t wait to reveal what’s next to Mordbot And of course, ‘Sanctuary Moon‘In season two. “
If I were to make a Mordbot Season 2 -Release Date -Forest, I would say that since Season 1 had premiered in May 2025, we will see at the end of 2026/early 2027 before we see what Murderbot is up to the next.
Murderbot season 2 trailer: Is there one?
There is no Mordbot Season 2 trailer to share – and there won’t be in a while. For season 1, the trailer came out, as is usually the case, just a month before the show premiered on Apple TV+.

Murderbot season 2 potential plot synopsis and rumors

Larger spoilers follow for Mordbot Season 1.
Mordbot Season 1 was full of sci-fi adventure, strange grin, bug bump and lots of binge-watching episodes of ‘Sanctuary Moon‘.
But when it comes to the plot for Season 2, the show, like its titular character, can begin to form its own way.
Talking to Comicbook, Mordbot‘s performing product David S. Goyer said: “The only difference between the books and next season is that the economy of making a TV show requires you to book series.
“Now that we’ve done a season and have X -Quantity series that are regular, most of these characters are not in the second book. You might see a bit of a remix of a few of the books.”
And then, while there are rumors about Mordbot Season 2 that picks up the second novel in Martha Wells’s series, Artificial stateAnd season 1, ending true to how the first book did, it might not be so linear.
However, if it comes with book two, the official synopsis reads: “It has a dark past – one in which a number of people were killed. A past that caused it to pour itself” murder bot. “But it has only vague reminiscent of the massacre that created the title and it will know more.
“Together with a research transport vessel named Art (you don’t want to know what” A “stands for), Murderbot leads to the mine facility where it went rogue. What it discovers will forever change the way it thinks …”

Murderbot Season 1 final sets viewers up with a strong plot line to pick up for episodes coming.
Murderbot, after almost dying and saving Mensah’s life, wakes up with his memory wiped out. As the team comes to save him and even Gurathin, who steps up to help Mordbot recreate what he has lost, the future of Murderbot looks hopeful.
When they get a murder bot back and buy him from the business, they let him be free. But what will the murder bot do with this new -found freedom?
Armed with his autonomy and some serious murder skills, he boarded another ship. And while this May Be the one mentioned in the book Two Synopsis, it is a plot that is held firmly during wrapping.
But the Season 1 final was an incredibly thought -provoking conclusion, and after an intense match in the penultimate episode stripped the pace back to let the murder bot feel all his feelings. And I’m sure there’s much more of this to explore in Mordbot Season 2.
Will Murderbot get more seasons on Apple TV+?

There is currently no news about what is in addition to Mordbot Season 2, which is not so surprising as it was only renewed for its second excursion in July.
But in conversation with Comicbook, Goyer mentioned something that might hopefully suggest more: “I would say there are five other books that Martha Wells has written, so there is much more material. I don’t know if the show will last five, six seasons.”
Sure if Mordbot Season 2 becomes more of a mashup of Wells’ iconic series that can limit how many seasons are left in the pipeline. But with a star’s role crew and unique premise behind it, there may be room for at least a few more seasons.
Time will show and I can imagine that we will not hear much more about it until at least Season 2 premieres. Currently, I will emulate Murderbots improved senses and listen to all news on Earth.
