Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab highlighted tensions between Pakistan People’s Party and Jamaat-e-Islami on Monday during a press conference.
With the city rolled from another wave of monsoon rain, Wahab Ji accused of having used the rain-caused disaster to Besmirch’s name of PPP and claimed that the opposition party had spread false propaganda.
“I have come today to inform the people of Karachi about the facts. Our political opponents have launched negative propaganda regarding Hub Canal and Shahrah-E-Bhutto.”
The mayor of Karachi had started the press conference and urged them to keep political differences out of the equation when the disaster strikes, and yet his finger never stopped pointing.
In the latest rain form, many transport arteries in the city had been damaged. Wahab claims that this injury was exaggerated: “Haleem Adil Sheikh arrived and claimed that the Hub Canal had been washed away. In reality, only a 20 meter part of the hub channel was damaged. This 20-meter section was immediately repaired within 48 hours.”

Torrential Rains paralyzed Karachi the past week, flooded neighborhoods, swept vehicles and killed at least four people away, while over 400 were rescued when the army joined civilian authorities in relief operations across flooded areas.
Commuters endured hours -long traffic grandlocks on Thursday, when the closure of key routes paralyzed vehicle movement on larger arteries connecting Korangi, defense and central Karachi.
According to the mayor of the city, Shahrah-e-Bhutto was serviced, and all speculation about its closure during the second rain form was common propaganda.
What has been confirmed is that a flash river in the Malir River caused significant damage to the substructure Shahrah-e-Bhutto by Malir Jam Goth. The flood water swept through the road and created a hole several meters wide and deep.

The closure of Korangi Crossing, Malir River Causeway and EBM Causeway due to flooding water disturbed the flow of traffic from early morning until late at night on September 10th.
Massive traffic load was reported on Korangi Road, Qayyumabad Chowrangi, Jam Sadiq Bridge, Baloch Colony Expressway, Brooks Chowrangi and Defense Signal, where vehicles remained in long queues for hours.
Wahab’s explanation of the traffic garden, which paralyzed Karachi, was simple, “Every time such a situation occurs, of course, damage occurs.”
He fired back with his own set of accusations and claimed that Jamaat-in-Islami got RS27 billion, “All tax revenue goes to the city’s chairmen, yet they still do not do the work.”
When he waived further silence over the subject, Wahab accused of Ji and said Ji filed a lawsuit that Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) commercialized Karachi’s parks. He doubled with claims that JI member Saifuddin lied under oath when he was presented to the court.
“It was Naimatullah Khan who commercialized Karachi’s roads.”
Wahab pointed several fingers, namely on Hafiz Naeem Ur Rehman, which suggested that Model Colony Town received RS2.5 billion, and “Still, not a single way has been built.”
