Mutual bans of heavy vehicles

Islamabad:

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Captain (RETD) SYED ZEESHAN HAIDER has introduced a complete ban on the entry of heavy vehicles, overloaded trucks and loading Rickshaws to Islamabad. The sweeping measure enforced over the federal capital aims to eliminate the persistent problems of traffic conditions and fatalities caused by such vehicles.

A police spokesman on Thursday said the order was implemented as part of a broader initiative to upgrade the city’s traffic management system and ensure citizens’ safety.

He said that additional traffic staff have been deployed on all major roads and crosses to regulate traffic and enforce the ban strictly. Vehicles found violating the new order will be introduced and litigation will be taken against the drivers.

CTO Haider added that ITP has launched a zero-tolerance policy against all types of traffic violations, including signal fractures, speed, railway and illegal parking. Criminals are facing immediate fines and in severe cases their vehicles will be moved to police stations.

He said drone monitoring is expanded to monitor real -time violations and ensure timely intervention. This tech-based monitoring system will strengthen road discipline and discourage usual offenders.
