Mystery still pays tribute to the strange disappearance of a wheel that was very much in its place when a Pia’s plane was taken off from Karachi, but was missing when the plane touched at Lahore Airport after approx. an hour and 45 minutes.
On Wednesday night, it was discovered that the PKI306 aircraft had landed in Lahore with one of its most important landing equipment missing. Despite the missing wheel, the aircraft landed safely without event.
A spokesman for Pia said the airline’s Airline Safety Department in coordination with CAA has launched an investigation into the incident in accordance with aviation regulations.
The exact reason is determined after a final investigation report, but initial assessments suggest that the wheel may have been damaged by foreign bodies (foot) or an external factor on the Karachi runway.
Sources said after a warning from Lahore Air Traffic Control (ATC), part of the wheel assembly was discovered at Karachi Airport. Despite over 14 hours of searching, the missing wheel has not yet been located in either Karachi or Lahore airports.
