Na falling down in chaos over speaker bans

Islamabad:

The Pandemonium seized the National Assembly on Monday, after speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq declared that no member would be allowed to speak “in favor” by Fitna Al-Khawarij or against the ongoing operation, triggered rebellion and protests from opposition benches.

The charged session, marked by slogans, Heckling and Walkouts, was quickly evolved into what observers described as a “assembly within an assembly”.

Opposition legislators, led by Mahmood Khan Achakzai, formed two rows in front of the speaker’s dais and began to hold their own speeches, intensified the disturbance and leave the house in disorder.

Formerly staged journalists in the press gallery a walkout at the invitation of the parliamentary journalist association to protest the alleged verbal abuse of senior journalist Ijaz Ahmed by PTI founder Imran Khan during his Adiala prison attempt.

In response, Sadiq sent members from both the Treasury benches and Jui-F to persuade the journalists. After their return, MQM legislator Khawaja Izharul Hassan presented a decision that condemns the PTI founder’s behavior and required security for Ijaz Ahmed.

“This house strongly condemns the PTI founder’s behavior and requires the protection of senior journalist Ijaz Ahmed,” the decision states.

PTI chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan maintained that his party supported the freedom of press, but said the case needed clarity. “At least let me find out and find out what happened between the PTI founder and the journalist,” he added.

In the midst of the noise, federal minister Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh managed to set the easy business bill 2025, which was adopted by a majority despite the opposition’s cries and protests.

Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar struck out at the opposition and said, “If the opposition has the courage, let them openly support Fitna-E-Khawarij. Instead of taking privileges here and shouting, go out and keep your own assembly.”

MQM legislator Asia Ishaq also increased emotionally to declare that “no one is allowed to speak against the army or in favor of terrorists”.

The session was postponed until 1 p.m. 11 on Tuesday (today).
