The National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Climate Change has adopted the Bill on Climate Responsibility 2024.
The NA panel meeting was held on Wednesday under the chairman of Munazza Hasan, who discussed Bill 2024, which was forwarded by MNA Sharmila Farooqui. The loss of the bill told the committee that the bill undertook business responsibility and it aimed to reduce carbon costs.
The bill proposes the establishment of a climate change fund and proposes to impose fines on companies that harm the environment, Sharmila said. The Ministry of Climate Change Secretary informed the committee that the process of establishing the fund had already begun. The secretary recommended to hold a vote on the bill, which was subsequently adopted unanimously.
During the NA Committee Meeting, MNA Nuzhat presented Sadiq Pakistan environmental protection bill 2024. In addition, the law also adopted the same attitude.
In addition, the committee sought a detailed orientation on burning crop residues. Director -General of Pakistan Environment Protection Agency said fines have been introduced on four private housing communities due to a lack of sewerage system.
The chairman of the committee questioned why the EPA failed to intervene in the construction of these housing communities.
