ISLAMABAD:
A parliamentary panel on Tuesday highlighted a growing skills gap that is limiting access to key labor markets such as Japan and South Korea, despite the country producing nearly 800,000 university graduates annually.
The National Assembly Standing Committee on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, chaired by Syed Rafiullah, scrutinized Pakistan’s overseas employment strategy. The panel undertook a comprehensive review of overseas facilitation mechanisms, focusing on the achievements of Community Welfare Attachés (CWAs), labor market penetration abroad and recognition of Pakistani qualifications abroad.
Members said overseas Pakistanis remain an important national asset, but stressed that institutional performance must be measured through concrete facilitation results rather than routine reporting.
