Islamabad: The National Assembly adopted three key bills aimed at fighting human trafficking and protecting vulnerable Pakistani migrants, The news Reported Tuesday.

Bills – namely Prevention of Trade in Persons (Amendments) Bill 2025, Bill (amendment (amendment) 2025 and the prevention of smuggling of migrants (amendments) Bill 2025 – was introduced by Minister of Law and Justice Senator Azam Nazir Tarar.

According to the federal minister, the decision is in the midst of alarming reports of deaths among illegal migrants in recent months.

During the announcement, he emphasized that the government had been dealing with various stakeholders in the last two months to refine these regulatory measures seeking to change the prevention of trade in persons in law 2018, prevention of smuggling of migrants’ law 2018 and emigration ordinance 1979.

The proposed changes include harsher penalties for offenders and a shift in trial jurisdiction from the magistrate courts to sessions courts, ensuring a more timely legal process for dealing with cases.

Tarar also said the government had launched a crash on gangs involved in human trafficking and many guilty have been arrested.
