Security forces said they released more than 340 train passengers in a two-day rescue operation ending late Wednesday after a banned group bombed a distant railway track in Bolan and stormed a train with about 450 passengers on board.

The assault was claimed by the forbidden Baloch Liberation Army (bla).

Death agreements have varied, with the military in an official statement that “21 innocent hostages” were killed by the terrorists as well as four soldiers in the rescue operation.

A Balochistan railway employee said the bodies of 25 people were transported by train away from the hostage to the nearby town of Mach on Thursday morning.

“The deceased was identified as 19 military passengers, a police and a railway employee, while four organs have not yet been identified,” the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told AFP.

A senior local military official supervisor operations confirmed the details.

An army official previously set the military toll at 1 p.m. 28.

Passengers who escaped away from the siege said after going for hours through robust mountains to reach safety that they saw people being shot by the terrorists. (With input from AFP)
