Harrison Burton is on his second NASCAR circuit in so many years after being released by wood racing last year in the cup series.

He is now in his own words improved his stock in the XFinity series with six top-10s, including in each of his last three races (he had only two whole last years).

But with the Indy 500 coming up, Burton admits it would be nice to get behind the wheel of that race.

“I like to run something,” Burton told Pakinomist Digital in a recent conversation.

Burton has been successful on Indianapoli’s Motor Speedway. In his very first race there in 2022 he ended up in third place.

But Burton’s love for “Motorsports in general” alone has him at least something interested in driving the Indy 500.

“I see F1 every weekend that I can, indycar as much as I can, rally cross, formula e, motorcross, everything. I love it. Certainly if this opportunity came,” he said.

“My true passion is NASCAR and I will never want to leave the NASCAR space. Getting driving in Indy in a cupcar was one of the coolest things I’ve ever done in my career. See afterwards see the prestige and the bait of the Indy 500, and to meet guys who have run into it, talk about what it means for these guys, it is really cool.”

Currently, Burton will have to wait until July 26 until he steps on the Indianapolis, a track he has in his top-three, along with Daytona and Darlington.

“You go to Indy and you pull down immediately. You stare at a wall all the time, it’s a 90-degree turn, and you’re like,” OK, I see exactly where to hit if I’m not doing this corner, “Burton said.” It’s so funny. It’s always cool to go to a place like that, just the story and the stories from there. It makes it more special when you can have a good day. “

Talladega was on the outside and looked in, but “the atmosphere is unmatched.”

Burton will be back on the field on May 24, one day before the Indy 500, at Betmgm 300 in Charlotte.
