Islamabad:
The Ministry of Maritime Affairs is trying its best to introduce a comprehensive national fishing policy in consultation with all stakeholders to strengthen Pakistan’s fishing sector to improve its contribution to the country’s economy and increase export revenue to seafood.
A ministry official said, apart from a broader nationwide consultation process, workshops had been conducted in Karachi and Lahore, and a last consultative workshop was planned for June in Islamabad.
He said National Fisheries and Aquaculture Policy Initiative marked an important step towards building a sustainable, inclusive and economically viable fishing sector in the country.
