Wood had six record performances and was intentionally gone four times. It was the first time a dough was deliberately gone four times in a game since Barry Bonds in 2004.

The only others who were deliberately gone four times in a game since at least 1955 were Roger Maris, Garry Templeton, Manny Ramirez and Andre Dawson, who received five intentional hikes in May 1990.

Wood went 1-for-2 with a stolen base. Nationals defeated the angles, 7-4, in 11 laps.

Wood has been one of the better players for the Nationals since he entered the league in 2024. He had 31 homemakers and 105 RBI with a .274 batting average and a .863 ops, according to his average of 162 games. His numbers have been compared to Juan Soto and Bryce Harper.

“These are some of the best guys to go on a jersey,” he said on Saturday via ESPN. “I certainly strive to be guys like that. They’ve done it-Juan Soto for seven-plus years and Bryce Harper in 12-Plus year-I know I got a long way to go, but it’s definitely cool.”

More important is that Wood has to help get Washington back in the winning pillar.

Despite the victory against the angels, citizens only improved to 35-49. Washington has not won more than 80 games since 2019 – the same year Washington World Series won that year.
