Nawaz to help solve Baloch imbroglio

Lahore:

Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said he will go forward to tackle the Balochistani security crisis after Eidul Azha after calling from the legal brotherhood that encourages him to take responsibility for the situation before it spirals out of control.

President Supreme Court wore Association Muhammad Rauf Atta and President Balochistan High Court Bar Association, accompanied by federal law minister Azam Nazir Tarar, met Nawaz Sharif at his Lahore residence to discuss the escalating security concerns in Balochistan.

The meeting requested by Rauf Atta aimed to persuade Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief to break his political silence and take the lead to resolve the crisis.

In particular, Nawaz-which was largely on the sidelines of policy-after, unwelly unwell one day earlier and limited to the bed rest, which PML-N cited as the reason for his no-show at the recent parliamentary committee meeting on national security, called in the wake of the Jaffar Express train.

In a speech with Express Pakinomist, Rauf Atta said they urged Nawaz to take the lead to find a political solution to the crisis and emphasized that this issue was out of politics.

“We have requested Nawaz Sharif to break his political silence for the sake of Balochistan,” Atta said. “We have asked him to engage Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Nawab Akhtar Mengal, Nawaz Raisani and other key figures to devise a political solution.”

He said that while they recognized several attempts to interrupt Nawaz’s bond with his people, efforts went beyond the policy.

Atta pointed out the growing liberation among the people of Balochistan and said that in power they lacked public roots. He emphasized that genuine leadership should be allowed to take responsibility in the province, as opposed to the current provincial assembly members he claimed to avoid public interaction.

He also emphasized the need to activate the local government system to ensure public participation.

The SCBA President also offered the Platform of the Association if Nawaz decides to convene an All Parties Conference (APC) on the issue, and also promised to secure PTI’s participation.

“The bar association is neutral and does not belong to a political party, which is why all stakeholders will respect and recognize our efforts,” he said.

Atta added that Nawaz appeared deeply concerned about the Balochistan situation and assured them that after Eid he would engage Fazlur Rehman and consult Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif when he returned to Pakistan.
