ISLAMABAD:

The National Dialogue Committee (NDC) on Saturday urged President Yahya Afridi to ensure compliance with Supreme Court directives on the medical examination and treatment of jailed PTI founder and former prime minister Imran Khan.

Imran, who has been incarcerated in Adiala Jail for the past two-and-a-half years, has reportedly lost 85 percent of the vision in his right eye.

The PTI founder’s lawyer, Salman Safdar – who was appointed amicus curiae by the Supreme Court – was allowed to visit his client in jail earlier this week and said Imran started experiencing blurred and blurred vision three to four months ago.

He said that although he told the prison warden, nothing was done beyond giving him eye drops.

Information Minister Ata Tarar earlier confirmed that Imran had a 20-minute medical procedure on January 24 at Islamabad’s PIMS hospital, saying he was “fine and healthy”.
