NDMA participates in the RCC forum in Thailand

NDMA Pakistan delegation attended the 18th Regional Consultative Committee (RCC) meeting in Bangkok, Thailand on Thursday.

The Regional Advisory Committee is a regional forum to promote consultation and cooperation on disaster risk reduction and climate change in the Asia and Pacific region.

The theme of this year’s RCC meeting is “Sustainable Anticipatory Actions for Resilient Development Goals”, which greatly resonates with NDMA Pakistan’s proactive Disaster Risk Management (DRM) approach to timely anticipate disasters through advanced technologies and take appropriate measures to reduce losses .

In his keynote speech, chairman of the board NDMA Lt. Gen Inam Haider Malik the effects of climate change in the Asia-Pacific region and in Pakistan, including rising temperatures, extreme weather and water-related crises that threaten socio-economic development in the region. .

He emphasized the need to develop appropriate financial mechanisms that provide the necessary financial resources to most affected countries in dealing with the effects of climate change through DRR and CCA.
