National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Wednesday issued an advisory journey that called on citizens and tourists to avoid visiting parts of Gilgit-Baltista (GB) due to dangerous weather conditions, ongoing floods and increased risks of landslide and road endings, reported Associated Press of Pakistan.
The advisory released by the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) warned that several roads in the northern region have been severely damaged by persistent rainfall and ice activity. It highlighted GB as particularly vulnerable and advised travelers to exhibit extreme caution and avoid unnecessary movement in the affected areas.
According to NDMA, Shyok River Bridge near Saltoro has been blocked by landslides and cut off access along the route. The astak bridge on the Jaglot-Skardu road is also partially damaged, which limits traffic to one-way movement.
