Following Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s notice of a reduction in electricity stars, National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) issued a review that confirmed the price cut as part of the quarterly adjustment as consumers began to receive a relief of up to RS3.02 per year. Unit.
The message issued by NEPRA on quarterly adjustment specifies that the price reduction will apply to the period from October to December 2024, Express News reported.
The price reduction comes into force for all electricity distribution companies, including K-electric, for three months, from April to June 2025, giving Relief, which corresponds to approx. RS56.38 billion for consumers.
However, the price reduction does not apply to lifeline and prepaid customers. NEPRA clarified that distribution companies had requested quarterly adaptation to lower electricity prices, which led to a consultation and the subsequent reduction in monthly fuel price adjustments across the country.
For Karachi consumers, electricity will be RS3.02 per Unit cheaper, while the rest of the country will see a reduction of RS1.90 per Unit.
In separate messages on monthly adjustments, NEPRA declared that the pricing line would begin to reflect on consumer April bills.
For K-electric customers, the price cut is based on January 2025’s monthly adjustment, while the price reduction for other parts of the country is tied to February 2025’s adaptation.
