The movie Megahit, which has broken records on Netflix since its first launch on June 20th, is finally ready to make its too long-damplate debut on the big screen. As the above X/Twitter -post confirms, however, there are a few catches with one of Best Netflix Film ‘release in theaters.
First, it gets a limited release with Kpop Demon Hunters To be available in cinemas only for a weekend. It comes to cinema screens on August 23 and 24, so if you are already doing something else on both these days you are fresh without luck.
But it’s not my biggest bugbear with this message. No, my main grip with this reveal is that Kpop Demon Hunters will only land on the silver screen in the US and Canada.
For a movie that has not only proven to be popular across the globe, but also introduced millions of new people to KPOP as a genre, it is a massive oversight by Netflix’s side for not giving Kpop Demon Hunters A wider theater release.
Some may even say that the best streaming service has missed an * Ahem * golden opportunity to allow its global fanbase to enjoy the film on the biggest screen. As a British resident, you can bet that I am disappointed that I can’t sing my heart out to ‘Soda Pop’, ‘Your Idol’ or one of the film’s incredibly addictive songs.
Will Netflix care that the vast majority of Kpop Demon Hunters‘Worldwide, not being able to check it out in a theater near them? Probably not. After all, it won’t leave the platform soon, if at all, then Netflix will just ask the rest of us to see it instead.
It’s not like Kpop Demon Hunters Need the extra views, remember you. In fact, it has become the most watched Netflix-animated film of all time, and is the first original animated movie to get it for streaming titan’s top 10 English-language movies. Its soundtrack has also dominated the music diagrams in the last two months, while ‘Golden’ recently became the first ever KPOP song to neighbor # 1 on the Billboard Top 100 diagram.
Given the film’s unexpected massive success, it is not surprising to learn that Netflix seems to turn Kpop Demon Hunters to his own Frozen-Let franchise. According to Wrap, two animated followers, a TV show spin-off, short films to bridge the gap between its function flicks, and a stage musical are all considered by Netflix’s top brass. WRAP’s original report also indicated that a live-action summary may have been on the way, but it has since been scrubbed from the article.
Either way, expect to see and hear much more about Kpop Demon Hunters In the future. Just don’t expect to see it at your local theater if you live outside North America. SUK …
