- Netflix has announced one Assassin’s Creed TV series comes to the streamer
- It’s been up and running for almost five years but we don’t have much information yet
- The plot describes the series as “a high octan-thriller centered on the secret war between two shady factions”
Netflix has green -lit one Assassin’s Creed TV adaptation, giving me hope again after previous attempts to adjust the video game to the screen is flop.
In 2016, Michael Fassbender LED movie was critically panned and received an 18% rotten Tomatoes Critical Score. But news that the story is coming to one of the best streaming services has gained my interest.
We have of course seen some huge successes with video game adjustments, like Prime Video’s Fallout or HBOs The last of usSo we can only hope that the second time is a charm when it comes to Assassin’s Creed.
What do we know about Netflix’s Assassin’s Creed?
At the time of writing, we don’t know much. Netflix has not released a trailer or a role crew, but they have confirmed who is leading the project.
Emmy nominated Roberto Patino (Westworld) and David Wiener (Halo) will act as creators, showrunners and executive producers at Assassin’s Creed series. Given their work with some big shows, this fills me with hope.
The Halo Video games for screen adaptation scored a healthy 80% on the rat Tomatoes, making it worthy a place on our best paramount+ shows, so it’s a positive start.
As for plot, all we have so far is a statement from Tudum that reads: “Assassin’s Creed is a high octane thriller centered on the secret war between two shady factions-one set to determine the future of humanity through control and manipulation, while the others are struggling to preserve free will. “
It adds: “The series follows its characters across pivotal historical events as they struggle to shape the fate of humanity.”
It’s not much to get rid of, and fans of the video games already know the universe well, so it will be interesting to see how far it sticks with or deviates from the source material.
Either way, I’m excited to give this one a trip and pray that one day it will be added to our list of best Netflix shows.
