A PR -expert has called Netflix agreement with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry ‘A Demotion dressed as a promotion’.
Talking to Daily Express Renae Smith said, “This ‘partnership extension’ is basically a damping dressed as a promotion.
“My effort is that it is a smart way for Netflix to avoid headlines about dropping them, and for Sussexes to say they still have a deal. But it feels more like a polite breakdown. Netflix may also try to control a soft output.”
She said, “They are more ‘throw a grenade back when you leave the building’ type, and I’m sure Netflix considered the blowout if Meghan decided to complain about being ‘dumped’ etc.
“Whether they will actually do something significant together after this is questionable.”
Archewell Productions, Prince Harry and Meghan’s media company, has expanded its creative partnership with Netflix with a multi-year, first look agreement for all its film and TV projects.
Meghan said: “We are proud to expand our partnership with Netflix and expand our work together to include AS ever brand. My husband and I feel inspired by our partners who work closely with us and our Archewell Productions team to create thought -provoking content across genres that resonate globally and celebrate our shared vision.”
