As reviews go, “everyone involved in prison” is pretty tough. But it was one of many deeply disappointed reviews of PersuasionNetflix’s adaptation of Jane Austen Classic.
For many fans of Austen and of customizations in general, the best versions are those that cling close to the source text. So I am cautiously optimistic that Netflix’s newly announced and apparently faithful adaptation of Pride & Prejudice Will hover over the admittedly low beam set by its Austen adaptation from 2022 to become one of the best Netflix shows.
Netflix’s new pride and prejudice: What we know so far
There are many reasons to be cheerful about this upcoming adaptation of six episodes. The first is who writes it; The second is who directs it; And the third, fourth and fifth is who is in it.
The author is Dolly Aldton who won a national book award for his novel All i know about love And who absolutely loves Austen’s book. It’s “The Blueprint for Romantic Comedy,” she says, and “The book is a gift to adapt – packed with drama and depth as well as comedy and charm”.
AGERNON is also very pleased to cooperate with Director Euro Lyn, which instructed Heartstopperand with a “stellar” role crew.
That role crew includes Emma Corrin (Nosferatu, black mirror) like Elizabeth Bennet and Jack Lowden (Slow horses, Benediction) As Mr. Darcy.
Did you know that Lowden is Scottish? He was born in England but grew up in the Scottish borders by Oxton. I am so used to see him as an English agent in Slow horses That I was really shocked when I heard him speak in his normal Scottish accent. But I’ll take off. The wonderful Olivia Coleman (The favorite, the crown), one of Britain’s finest actors, is Mrs. Bennet.
Will this Pride and Prejudice series arrive sometime in 2025? Probably not: Netflix says the series will start shooting in the UK later in the year. But all signs are that this adjustment can be all that Persuasion Wasn’t, so it might be worth waiting for.
