If you’re looking for a new series to watch on Netflix this weekend I would highly recommend Wonderful. With his role crew led by Eric Bana (Troy), it follows a federal agent sent to resolve the mystery of a woman’s death in a lawless national park. Over six nail -biting episodes, we learn the truth about the woman in question, who she is and who else is caught in the chaos with some serious consequences.
Out of everything new on Netflix in July 2025, this story is perhaps just the most predictable. However, do not write it out as a bad thing. With so many metaphorical plates turning at a given time, being able to appreciate details at the moment you want when the hard time starts (yes, it does for bana, not for us).
There is an extra victory in Untamed’s approach too. If I am honest, the mysterious murder of the core is the least interesting thing knows what is happening on screen. In the opening scenes alone, one of my childhood dreams has been brought to life perfectly, and now I can relive the magic at any time I want … and so can you.
Netflix’s Untamed does not thrive on his murder mystery but the beauty of Yosemite National Park
Look at
If you were a child in the late 1990s, you probably saw the Disney movie Pocahontas And wondering if the mountain she jumps off under ‘colors of the wind’ is actually real. It turns out it is and you can see exactly the same breathtaking views of Yosemite National Park, California. Ever since I saw the classic movie, I’ve wanted to go there and now I can turn on the TV at any time.
What is sitting Wonderful Apart from your typical criminal procedural is its setting, with Netflix, which quickly reminds us that “nature obeys no rules”. The clean scope of the pristine natural world means solving a crime is much more difficult to do than in a built, inhabited area, automatically to produce Untamed’s Existing plot the little bit of meats. But we don’t look at finding out the answer we already know it is coming is we?
Instead, we visualize ourselves wandering in the mountain paths that rise for hours, stop at views to take pictures of El Capitan, which will never reflect the beauty of seeing it personally and watching climbers beating their trails on the rocks and not being able to look away. There is nothing like Yosemite’s beauty and to be submerged in Wonderful means to be submerged in something much bigger than ourselves.
As an adult I have been lucky enough to visit yosemite twice and that is all you hope it is when you see something like Wonderful. I am so excited about subscribers who do not even know that the national park exists to see the endless mountainous glory. While it doesn’t work right at least, you can be sure that what you see is not CGI. Frankly, I don’t think there’s ever been a more beautiful crime drama that is required to film.
