In itching powder was a constant threat throughout my childhood. Together with Quicksand and Killer Bees, it was one of the things that comics, movies and TV shows suggested would be far more widespread than it was – which was obviously not widespread at all. To the extent I don’t know anyone who was actually dosed with it.
I have far more direct experience with all the other powders in today’s threads except for blasting. I actually don’t know what it is, but I suspect that unlike cocoa, baking or chili is not something you would like to put food on (and unlike talc or baby, certainly not on a body!)

What is new threads?
Strands is Nyt’s non-new-new-more word games after Wordle and connections. It is now a fully expanded member of Nyt’s Games Stable, which has been running for a year and can be played on the new Games website on desktop or mobile.
