NEW Connections today (game #908) – the answers
The answers to today’s Connections, game #908, are…
- YELLOW: TRICKY COMPLEX, DELICATE, STICKY, TOUGH
- GREEN: STATE OF THE ROOF DEAL, SITUATION, STATUS, HISTORY
- BLUE: CLASSIC BOARD GAMES MASTERMIND, MOUSETRAP, OPERATION, EXCUSE
- PURPLE: ____TALK BABY, PILLOW, LITTLE, CUTE
- My rating: Easy
- My score: Perfect
CUTE and STICKY aside, there were no real crossovers today, although I thought the theme of the yellow group was different types of situations rather than TRICKY.
Strictly speaking, MASTERMIND isn’t a classic board game because it doesn’t come with a board – even though it’s a member of the same pre-video game heritage.
If you’ve never played it, it’s highly recommended; it’s a color-code breaking game, and instead of a board and counters, it comes with dozens of tiny black and white pegs that you’ll inevitably lose slowly over time. At least that’s what happened with our kit, which eventually included a couple of homemade pegs alongside the ones it came with.
Anyway, I digress. I was also excited to get the purple group today, although I think it’s clear that I’d rather participate in classic board game chat than BABY, PILLOW, SMALL, or SWEET talk.
Yesterday’s NYT Connections Answers (Thursday, December 4th, Game #907)

What is NYT Connections?
NYT Connections is one of several increasingly popular word games created by the New York Times. It challenges you to find groups of four elements that share something in common, and each group has a different degree of difficulty: green is easy, yellow a little harder, blue often quite tough, and purple usually very difficult.
On the plus side, you technically don’t need to solve the last one, as you’ll be able to answer it by a process of elimination. Also, you can make up to four mistakes, which gives you a little bit of breathing room.
It’s a little more involved than something like Wordle, though, and there are plenty of opportunities for the game to let you play tricks. For example, watch out for homophones and other puns that can hide the answers.
It can be played for free via the NYT Games site on desktop or mobile.
