NEW Connections today (game #866) – the answers
The answers to today’s Connections, game #866, are…
- YELLOW: BEST YEAR HEYDAY, PINNACLE, PRIME, ZENITH
- GREEN: THINGS YOU CAN DO TO SMTS FRIGHT, HIGHLIGHT, REVIEW, UNDERLINE
- BLUE: THINGS KNOWN TO BE COLORFUL THINGS KALEIDOSCOPE, PEACOCK, RAINBOW, SUNSET
- PURPLE: ENDS WITH ACCESSORIES BAYWATCH, COOTIE, HERRING, KINGPIN
- My rating: Easy
- My score: Perfect
I thought for a moment that the inclusion of BAYWATCH meant we were looking for things associated with David Haselhoff, but I quickly put a STRIKETHROUGH on that idea and also managed to resist lumping together a bunch of streaming services (PEACOCK, PRIME, errr…)
STRIKETHROUGH is my favorite of the THINGS YOU CAN DO WITH TEXT – it’s good for jokes, good for lazy people like me, and good for showing off your work (yes, I know it’s wrong, okay).
Meanwhile, I made THINGS KNOWN TO BE COLORFUL THINGS by thinking these were arched things rather than colorful.
Yesterday’s NYT Connections Answer (Thursday, October 23, Game #865)

What is NYT Connections?
NYT Connections is one of several increasingly popular word games created by the New York Times. It challenges you to find groups of four elements that share something in common, and each group has a different degree of difficulty: green is easy, yellow a little harder, blue often quite tough, and purple usually very difficult.
On the plus side, you technically don’t need to solve the last one, as you’ll be able to answer it by a process of elimination. Also, you can make up to four mistakes, which gives you a little bit of breathing room.
It’s a little more involved than something like Wordle, though, and there are plenty of opportunities for the game to let you play tricks. For example, watch out for homophones and other puns that can hide the answers.
It can be played for free via the NYT Games site on desktop or mobile.
