The answers to today’s connections, game #651, are …
- Yellow: Captivate Absorb, entry, seize, rivet
- Green: Things with wings Fly, Fe, Fly, Hospital
- Blue: Words that change “see” Pocket, smart, stop, wrist
- Purple: words repeated in “Miss Mary Mack” Back, black, buttons, mack
- My rating: Hard
- My score: 2 Errors
A day of double meaning. I was so locked at the entrance to be an opening for something that it didn’t seem to me that we were looking for the other definition, so I spilled a few mistakes trying to link it with fly and buttons. When it did not work, I convinced myself that we were looking for fasteners, then flying again, buttons, rivets and in a trance of confusion mack.
It had started so well too. The other thing I saw smart and wrist I thought “see”, although if we played a danger! Version of connections I would never have answered words that change “Watch”.
According to Wikipedia, Miss Mary Mack is the world’s best known clapping song, but I’ve never heard of it. Reading the rest of the lyrics apparently also enjoyed Mary to smoke her father’s tube as well – and she was undoubtedly friends with a goose who drank wine and a monkey that chewed tobacco on the street trolley.
How did you do today? Tell me that in the comments below.
Yesterday’s new -connections answer (Saturday 22 March, Game #650)

What are new connections?
New Connections is one of several increasingly popular word games made by the New York Times. It challenges you to find groups of four objects that share something in common, and each group has another level of difficulty: green is light, yellow a little harder, blue often quite hard and purple usually very difficult.
On the plus side, you do not have to technically solve the last one, as you can answer one by an elimination process. In addition, you can make up to four errors, giving you a little bit of breathing room.
However, it is a little more involved than something like Wordle, and there are plenty of opportunities for the game to get up with tricks. For example, be careful on gay and other word games that can hide the answers.
It can be played free of charge via the new Games website on desktop or mobile.
