New -Connections Today (Play #809) – The answers
The answers to today’s connections, game #809, are …
- Yellow: Places to get caught Net, Snare, Flocks, Web
- Green: Used for tea Cup, boiler, tea bag, water
- Blue: associated with hardness Diamond, nails, stones, steel
- Purple: Ends with keyboard keys Cantab, cyberspace, ice cream, provisional
- My rating: Hard
- My score: 1 Error
I had an office job once in a team of eight British people and an American, and I will always remember the latter irritation after making a tea race and discovering the many tea-making peccadillos of their colleagues: Leave the tea bag in, put the milk first, put the milk last, stir it five times, make sure to use boiling water, get it to the color of the terracotta.
Frankly, it’s no wonder coffee has overtaken tea like Britain’s favorite drink, it’s so much simpler.
My personal tea occupation helped me find used for tea fast enough, though I was temporarily believed we were looking for drums with snare, boiler and steel.
My mistake came to think that there was a group linked by words to the internet with cyberspace, net and web. I added Cantab like the fourth. I had no idea what it meant, but I thought it might have been a version of the 1950s by the World Wide Web with people at universities chatting with each other via computers the size of houses. How wrong I was.
Yesterday’s new -connections answer (Wednesday 27th August, Game #808)

- Green: ATM options Control, deposit, savings, withdrawal
- Blue: Binary question settings False, no, true, yes
- Purple: Roulette settings Black, even, weird, red
What are new connections?
New Connections is one of several increasingly popular word games made by the New York Times. It challenges you to find groups of four objects that share something in common, and each group has another level of difficulty: green is light, yellow a little harder, blue often quite hard and purple usually very difficult.
On the plus side, you do not have to technically solve the last one, as you can answer one by an elimination process. In addition, you can make up to four errors, giving you a little bit of breathing room.
However, it is a little more involved than something like Wordle, and there are plenty of opportunities for the game to get up with tricks. For example, be careful on gay and other word games that can hide the answers.
It can be played free of charge via the new Games website on desktop or mobile.
