New -Connections Today (Play #814) – The answers
The answers to today’s connections, game #814, are …
- Yellow: Curses EXPLETIVES, FOUR LETTER WORDS, GIRLS, GIRL
- Green: In “A Visit from St. Nicholas” Christmas, house, mouse, stirring
- Blue: carried by the earring magic ken Earrings, mesh jersey, necklace, pleather vest
- PURPLE: Start with possession determining Herring, histamine, mystery, ouroboros
- My rating: Hard
- My score: 2 Errors
Another incredibly difficult game of connections, though I may underestimate the cultural effect of Earring Magic Ken, Mattel’s short -lived from 1992, which made a brief performance in Barbie Movies along with some other ceased dolls.
Fortunately, I did not completely fail as I had managed to put together curses and in “a visit from St. Nicholas” before a number of random guesses helped me be carried by the earring Magic Ken without actually knowing what the group would be – I guess it might have something to do with boy band, so wasn’t far away.
The purple group is a good example of something that sounds much more complicated as it really is, though I’m sure they could have found a less unclear word than Ouroboros, though I now know what a symbol of a snake eating its own tail is called. Every day is a school day.
Yesterday’s New -Connections Reply (Monday 1 September, Game #813)
- Yellow: First performance Debut, Introduction, Launch, Premiere
- Green: Those celebrated with holidays Mother, President, Saint Patrick, Saint Valentine
- Blue: Famous Poets Bishop, Burns, Lorde, Pope
- Purple: What “Cardinal” can refer to Bird, Clergy Member, MLB Player, NFL Player
What are new connections?
New Connections is one of several increasingly popular word games made by the New York Times. It challenges you to find groups of four objects that share something in common, and each group has another level of difficulty: green is light, yellow a little harder, blue often quite hard and purple usually very difficult.
On the plus side, you do not have to technically solve the last one, as you can answer one by an elimination process. In addition, you can make up to four errors, giving you a little bit of breathing room.
However, it is a little more involved than something like Wordle, and there are plenty of opportunities for the game to get up with tricks. For example, be careful on gay and other word games that can hide the answers.
It can be played free of charge via the new Games website on desktop or mobile.
