No idea what was going on at all here. Let’s start again tomorrow, right?
Okay, fair enough, you can spend a few minutes swelling in my despair because I was all with today’s connections. None of the words seemed to have any connection at all, and I was reduced to randomly place words together in the blind hope that some may be correct.
Reading, they weren’t – and I duly crashed.
That said, I take something with this as a connection puzzle, wise, even if it was. The groups need to be easier – but that really wasn’t the case here. All of them, from yellow to purple, are just as tough – there is no difficulty curve at all. Sure, throw one or even two of these ‘what a two-letter word can mean’ groups, but not four of them in one.
But maybe it’s just sour grapes on my part. Still, tomorrow will be easier, right? Right?
How did you do today? Tell me that in the comments below.
Yesterday’s New -Connections Reply (Thursday 3rd July, Game #753)
- Yellow: Correspondence Contact, dealing, exchange, interaction
- Green: Airport board info Arrival, Destination, Flying, Gate
- Blue: Pro Athlet Data College, number, position, team
- Purple: Farmers’ Things Almanac, insurance, market, tan
What are new connections?
New Connections is one of several increasingly popular word games made by the New York Times. It challenges you to find groups of four objects that share something in common, and each group has another level of difficulty: green is light, yellow a little harder, blue often quite hard and purple usually very difficult.
On the plus side, you do not have to technically solve the last one, as you can answer one by an elimination process. In addition, you can make up to four errors, giving you a little bit of breathing room.
However, it is a little more involved than something like Wordle, and there are plenty of opportunities for the game to get up with tricks. For example, be careful on gay and other word games that can hide the answers.
It can be played free of charge via the new Games website on desktop or mobile.
