New E-Registration System for Vehicles Fail

Rawalpindi:

The newly launched e-registration transfer system for all types of cars and motorcycles has failed right after its rollout on September 1, 2025.

Between 1 and 20 September, the new system turned to 428 vehicles sold and paid for fully, legal recovery of ownership on paper to the previous owners.

The app developed under the Punjab Information Technology Board requires the seller to register the vehicle registration number, the new owner’s name and address and confirm the transfer with biometric verification; The app then requires access to engine and chassis numbers and the full data of the vehicle. But users reported “several technical deficiencies” and the app failed to clear and retain ownership data, causing the automatic reversal. As a result, buyers now need the cooperation from the previous owners to repeat the entire transfer process.

Glitches has caused a large number of citizens to stop the vehicle’s transfer procedures under the motor vehicle inspection system, causing the government to lose millions of rupees in daily revenue, according to departmental sources.
