A new investment vehicle, KvarnPortugal Fund, is set to give investors a way to get exposure to the cryptocurrency and at the same time present a potential path to Portuguese stay or citizenship.
The fund is the result of a partnership between Fundbox, a Portuguese fund management company and Kvarn X, a European cryptocurrency -investment platform.
The fund’s subscription period ends in February 2027 according to its website and has a 0.05% administration fee together with a one -time charge of 2.5%. On top of these, investors will also cover a € 1,250 ($ 1289) known-your-customer’s (KYC) fee.
The fund has a profit of 80/20. For investors who are not after Portuguese stay, the minimum investment is € 100,000.
The fund is set to award 80% of its portfolio to Bitcoin (BTC), and the remaining 20% to the Coindesk 20 index, offering exposure to a wide range of large cap cryptocurrencies.
KvarnPortugal adapts “Economic Opportunity with the Real World Tool” by integrating the index into a fund that facilitates residence of investment, said Alan Campbell, President of Coindesk Index. Coindesk 20 index, he added, was “designed to act as the industry’s most fluid benchmark.”
To use the fund to stay in Portugal through the country’s golden visa program, investors would have to commit at least € 500,000 and spend at least 35 days in the country over five years. The investment must be made via a Portuguese bank account to qualify according to the Fund’s website.
