Significant gas discovery by the SOHO-1-quirky well in the Sujawal block, Sindh, has been announced by Mari Energi’s Limited (MPCL), formerly known as Mari Petroleum.

As the only operator with 100% labor interest in the block, Mari Energi’s well -released 30.01 million standard cubic foot per Day (MMSCFD) Gas in a choke size of 64/64 ”with a well -head pressure of 1,482.5 PSI, Express news reported Friday.

At 32/64 ”choking they fled just over 18.84 mmscfd at a higher pressure of 3,447.8 psi.

The company noted that this marks the first successful gas discovery in the lower GORU formation within the Sujawal block, a zone previously considered unproductive.

Further tests are underway on additional formations to evaluate the full potential of findings.

In the past, Pakistan discovered another major oil and gas reserve in the Waziristan block, located in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, marking a key development in the country’s energy sector.

According to MPCL, the spin WAM-1 well produces approx. 20,485 million cubic foot gas per Day and 117 barrels of light crude oil with a well -head pressure of 3,431 psi.

MPCL has a 55%share in the block, while OGDCL owns 35%, and Orient Petroleum owns 10%.

Energy experts believe that this area has a strong potential for future discoveries that give hope for greater energy security and reduced dependence on imports.
