- The other iOS 26 developer Beta is out now
- It makes a change to the control center that improves readability
- It also includes various other adjustments and additions such as ordering tracking and a recovery assistant
The second iOS 26 developer Beta has already landed and it includes a small change that can make a big difference to users.
With iOS 26, Apple rolls a new look to the interface, known as ‘floating glass’, and a large part of it is the included of more glass -like, transparent elements. But in the event of the control center, the company undoubtedly took the idea too far, as the controls in the first beta were difficult to pose with certain backgrounds.
In this second iOS 26 beta, the control center background and its icons are more opaque, as you can see in the comparison image below (shared by macumors). This shows the original design on the left and the new, slightly less transparent version on the right.
This should make it easier to find the controls you are looking for, but this is not the only change in the new beta.
You will also find a new ‘Reduces Transparency’ option in the Accessibility menu, which allows you to make the control backgrounds more opaque, and there is now an accessibility section of the App Store lists so you can see what availability has an app that contains.
Order tracking and assisted recovery
The Wallet app can now use Siri to track orders, even though they were not made using Apple Pay, there is a new ringtone (which is to share meaning between users), a new Live Radio -widget to Apple Music, and the ‘New Tab’ button has been moved in Safaris Tab Management View.
There is also a new ‘recovery assistant’ feature that, according to the Beta release notes “is a new way to restore your device if it does not start normally. It can look for problems and try to solve them if they exist.”
These are the most important things, but there are a few other small changes, such as a new description of low power mode, and it is likely that more adjustments and additions will be found in the coming days.
If you would like to try these changes for yourself and you have a compatible iPhone, you can just go to our guide to cover how to download iOS 26 developer Beta for full instructions.
But unless you really can’t wait until the final release (probably landing in September), we would warn against installing beta versions on your primary device as they are by nature less stable than finished software.
