- IPad air and 10.9-inch iPad could be upgraded very soon
- They are expected shortly after the upcoming M4 MacBook Air Launch
- But a source says they “probably won’t come in the next few days”
If you are in the market for one of the best iPads, you might love buying one for now. That’s because fresh updated models are reportedly just around the corner and they could bring a powerful chip upgrade that will make it worth the wait.
Specifically, Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman says in his latest power on newsletter that stock of iPad Air and 10th generation iPad runs low in Apple stores. This is usually a sign that new models are coming soon as Apple often stops refreshing supplies of its soon-to-be-resolved devices in preparation for newcomers.
While a new MacBook Air with M4 chip could be launched as soon as this week, Gurman says the new iPads “probably won’t come in the next few days.” The time frame has not been narrowed more than that, but it suggests that the tablets could be launched within weeks rather than days.
Minor upgrades
Both iPad Air and Entry-Level iPad are expected to receive minor upgrades this year with new chips among the only expected changes. IPad air could get the M3 or M4 chip, while the 11th generation of iPad is likely to be equipped with either the A16 Bionic or A17 Pro Chip.
However, do not put extensive changes in the design or views of these devices. The rumor mill has been very quiet on this front, suggesting that most of the changes will come to the tablets’ internal. It is possible that there will be other new features, with Wi-Fi 7 and a new magic keyboard both potentially on the cards.
Despite the fact that these models are reportedly imminent, the same cannot be said for the iPad Pro and the iPad Mini. The iPad Pro probably won’t get an update until Apple’s M5 chip is launched later in the year, while the iPad Mini was only updated a few months ago.
If you are looking at buying one of these devices, be sure to move on. But if iPad Air or Entry-Level iPad is on your shopping list, it would be best to wait a while longer until the new models come out.
