It looks like the iPhone 16 Plus will make room for the iPhone 17 air this year – and a new leak gives us a better idea of the specifications that the new phone brings and how it is set to stack up against the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
These specifications come from Tipster @OREXDA (via notebookcheck) and suggest that the iPhone 17 air comes with a 6.7-inch screen running in a resolution of 2796 x 1290 pixels. A main camera resolution of 48MP and a Selfie camera resolution of 12MP is also mentioned as well as 128 GB of storage (with other options probably available too).
It can be compared to a 6.9-inch screen for the iPhone 17 Pro Max running in a resolution of 2868 x 1320 pixels. The same camera resolutions are listed – although the iPhone 17 Pro Max probably also has another pair of rear cameras – and for this phone the internal storage apparently starts at 256 GB.
If all this is accurate, the iPhone 17 Air would sit between 6.3-inch viewing of the iPhone 17 Pro and the 6.9-inch display of the iPhone 17 Pro Max, with regard to screen size — so there will be plenty of choices to be offered.
Thinner and thinner
None of those listed here are designed to make the iPhone 17 air stand out. In the place, it will be the super-slim frame that will carry the most appeal. The rumors are that the handset measures only 5.59 mm at the front of the back.
And 2025 could well be the year of the ultra -thin phone. We have already seen the launch of the thinnest collapse to date, Oppo finds N5, and we are getting ready to full detection of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge-a phone, we have only seen a short look at so far and which will go head-to head towards the iPhone 17 Air.
Based on unofficial reproductions that have already emerged online, the iPhone 17 air comes with a single rear camera that lies in a raised camera line that extends all the way over the top of the back. It looks likely that the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max have also raised camera modules.
The usual chipset upgrades can be expected, but it will be interesting to see how Apple Prices iPhone 17 Air, which marks a new series within the iPhone family. Last month, the Apple iPhone debuted 16E, starting at $ 599 / £ 599 / AU $ 999.
